Acupuncture & Microneedling
Acupuncture is the insertion of sterile, extremely thin needles into acupuncture point locations on the body. These points are located on meridians (energy pathways) on the body. Each point has different therapeutic indications and actions and is chosen according to the patient’s symptoms and diagnosis to harmonize the patient’s body and regulate qi (energy).
Acupuncture has been shown to activate the immune system, trigger the body’s own natural pain killers, increase blood flow, reduce stagnation, and regulate and calm the nervous system, all of which stimulate the body’s innate ability to heal itself.
Microneedling (Collagen Induction Therapy) is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation procedure in which a needling device is used to create micro-channels at specific depths in the skin. This stimulates the body’s innate healing process, creating new collagen and elastin. This creates better texture, firmer skin, reduces scars and discoloration, restores hair growth, and smooths fine lines and wrinkles.
Microneedling is a natural alternative to chemical (injections & peels) and surgical procedures. It requires very little down time, increases serum absorption by 1000% and results are shown to last 4-6 years with no maintenance.

Cupping & Electro Stimulation
Cupping is the placement of glass or plastic cups on the body creating decompression through suction. This decompression on the skin, connective tissues, and muscles promotes blood flow, relieves tension, enhances circulation, calms the nervous system, and reduces pain and inflammation by moving qi (energy) and blood.
Cups can be placed on the locations of the body with the greatest stagnation or can be moved over a larger area (slide cupping). Although cupping is often done on the back, it can also be done on other areas as indicated. This modality can also be used to aid the immune system and release toxins during the acute stage of a cold.
Electro stimulation (E-Stim.), also known as electroacupuncture, is the electrical stimulation of the acupuncture needles. E-stim works in many of the same ways acupuncture does, the difference being the stimulation is heightened and sustained for the treatment time, creating a more influential affect. This modality is used when identified as indicated during the patient evaluation.

Herbal Medicine & Food Therapy
In the East diet and herbs are essential aspects of health and wellness. Herbs often consist of plant parts, barks or twigs, leaves, flowers, fruit, minerals or insects. All herbs prescribed are medical grade. Herbs can be prescribed in the form of pills, tinctures, powders or raw for decoctions (tea). All herbal prescriptions are based on a detailed evaluation and based on each individuals’ specific symptoms and needs. Relevant to diagnosis and symptoms certain foods may also be recommended or advised to against.
Herbs can be used as a stand-alone treatment or in conjunction with other modalities. Herbs and prescribed foods can enhance and prolong the benefits of acupuncture treatments as well as to help heal on a more systemic level by addressing imbalances in the body.

Gua Sha, Tui Na, Moxibustion
Gua Sha is a scraping technique often done with a jade or ceramic tool on the skin and superficial muscles and fascia. This practice promotes qi (energy) and blood circulation and is used to break up adhesions and reduce pain and inflammation in many areas of the body.
Tui Na is a form of Eastern massage that consists of many different techniques used in conjunction with other modalities to free stagnation, relieve tension and pain, and enhance the free flow of qi (energy) in the body.
Moxibustion (moxa) is a heat therapy in which the herb Mugwort is burned and used to warm and nourish acupoints on the body. Moxa can also be used in the form of a salve or liquid which is activated by the heat from a heat lamp. Moxa has many therapeutic uses and indications, some of which include aiding in the circulation of qi and blood, reducing tension and pain, gynecological issues, tonifying the body, and boosting the immune system.
